We didn't set out to build software—we set out to tell better local stories and to keep track of the health and progress of communities. As publishers of our own local news operation, we faced the daily challenge of interviewing business owners, community leaders, and local voices. The administrative burden of coordinating these interviews meant many important community stories went untold.

We had been in the local media business and after spending 6 years in SaaS we decided to get back into local media.

We decided to start printing a physical newspaper in Salina, KS.

Our background
Running a local news operation taught us that incredible stories exist in every corner of our community. But we were drowning in interview coordination, endless email chains, and manual follow-ups. We needed a way to tell more local stories without sacrificing quality or adding staff. First, we automated our own interview process. Then our business spotlight series. Soon, other local publishers started asking about our process. That's when we realized: every local publisher faces these same challenges. By sharing our solution, we could help more communities tell their stories.
