Become the exclusive Fractals Market Operator for your area. Fractals provides the technology, data infrastructure, automation, and product platform. You bring the local relationships, reporting, and business development.
Your Community. Our Infrastructure. One Network.
We select operators — we don’t sell territories. Apply → qualify → launch → perform → retain exclusivity → expand.
That hierarchy matters. A Market Operator receives exclusive operating rights to a defined territory — subject to performance — not ownership of a permanent share of the local Fractals node. Think of it as the right to operate a market using Fractals infrastructure, not buying half of “Fractals of Salina.”
Exact legal treatment of content, data, customer lists, trademarks, termination, and related terms belongs in a Market Operator Agreement reviewed with counsel. The page describes the strategic model, not a binding offer.
Fractals Network
Every market — whether Fractals-operated, operator-run, or publisher-run — feeds the same intelligence network Fractals owns.
Entrepreneurs and local operators with exclusive rights to a defined territory, earned through performance. You run the human and local pieces; Fractals runs the system.
How operators work →Newspapers and media organizations that already have distribution, journalists, advertisers, legal notices, and local trust. Different economics — keep legacy revenue; build the future business together.
Publisher path →Markets Fractals owns and operates — strategically important R&D nodes (e.g. Salina) where we test AI, data products, print, legal notices, ads, and new editorial models before pushing wins to the Operator Network.
Why Direct exists →All three feed → Fractals Community Graph
That’s the asset Fractals owns — structured local intelligence across the network.
Exclusive operating rights for one community — conditional on launch and ongoing performance. Not a permanent 50/50 ownership of the local node.
Relationships, original reporting, community presence, sales, sponsorships, events, local editorial judgment — and print where it fits.
Community Graph, civic automation, branded community product, email/SMS/social/print tools, notices, analytics, monetization infrastructure, and product roadmap.
Conditional territory exclusivity while you meet standards. Expand into adjacent markets as you prove you can make Fractals dominant locally.
We don’t give someone Salina or Wichita forever simply because they applied first. Operators retain exclusive rights when they meet minimum standards.
Go live within about 60 days of agreement.
Minimum publishing activity and data completeness.
Editorial quality, response times, and brand standards.
Revenue and audience targets that show the market is working.
If an operator stops performing, Fractals can reclaim the market. That protects communities — and the network — from a blocked territory.
Successful operators can grow. The career path is deliberate: prove one market, then expand.
One community — e.g. Salina.
Several adjacent communities — e.g. Central Kansas.
Broader coverage across a state or multi-region footprint.
Illustrative path: 1 → 5 → 20 markets. Fractals scales by selecting great operators — not by hiring thousands of local employees.
We eliminated permanent 50/50-of-everything messaging. The principle is simple: reward operators heavily for revenue they create locally; don’t give away the economics of products Fractals creates nationally.
Figures below are illustrative sample structure — not a binding offer. Final splits live in each Market Operator Agreement.
| Revenue type | Operator | Fractals |
|---|---|---|
| Local ads / sponsorship | ~70% | ~30% |
| Local events | ~70% | ~30% |
| Local print revenue | ~70% | ~30% |
| Legal notices | ~70% | ~30% |
| Local transactions / leads | ~50% | ~50% |
| National advertising | ~20% | ~80% |
| Fractals Intelligence | — | 100% |
| API / data licensing | — | 100% |
| Network-wide products | — | 100% |
About $2,500–$10,000 depending on market — enough that operators are serious, not a primary territory-sale model.
About $500–$1,500 / month for the infrastructure, tools, and network.
About 20–30% of locally generated revenue to Fractals — so Fractals wins when the market wins.
Fractals Publisher Network
Without rebuilding your operation from scratch. Existing newspapers already have distribution, brand, journalists, advertisers, legal status, legal notices, local trust, and archives — things Fractals values deeply.
We’re not asking you to “give us 30% of your newspaper.” Keep most of your legacy economics. Fractals participates more heavily in new digital revenue the platform creates. That’s a conversion path, not a takeover.
Talk Publisher NetworkLegacy print, notices, and existing advertiser relationships — typically the large majority of that revenue.
Community Graph, civic automation, digital products, email/SMS/social, and new sponsorship inventory on Fractals infrastructure.
Local Data Layer embeds if you want Fractals intelligence modules without a full Publisher Network agreement.
Markets Fractals owns and operates. They’re where we prove AI, data products, print, legal notices, advertising, transactions, consumer products, pricing, and new editorial models — then push what works to Market Operators and the Publisher Network.
Direct markets are strategically important for product R&D, not a claim that Fractals must operate every town.
For publishers who want Fractals intelligence modules without a full operator or publisher agreement.
A solid entry plan for a single local newsletter or small publisher that wants useful data fast.
For publishers who want recurring local intelligence across web, email, social, and print without replacing their stack.
For serious local publishers and small media teams that want daily data, drafts, and deeper control.
For legacy media companies, newsletter networks, radio groups, and multi-market operators.
Typical Data Layer setup: $500–$2,500 depending on embeds, styling, sources, and integration depth. Starter setup can be waived for early design partners.
No. The useful analogy is structural only: Fractals owns the system; operators run local markets using that system. Any agreement that could raise franchise-law questions needs counsel — this page is positioning, not a franchise disclosure.
Early partnership experiments used even splits and territory-claim language. At scale, Fractals shouldn’t give away permanent half-ownership of every local node or sell territories as the product. Operators earn exclusive operating rights and keep strong economics on revenue they create locally.
Those flows are legacy. New operators should apply. Market status lookup remains available for exclusivity context.
Fractals owns platform, software, schemas, Community Graph, aggregate/derived data, network products, AI, national accounts, APIs, and product IP. Operators own their operating company, local employee relationships, and their share of local economics. Fractals retains rights needed to incorporate network-generated information into the Community Graph and network products. Exact terms are in the agreement.
Apply to qualify. If you’re a fit, you’ll launch, perform, keep exclusivity, and — if you succeed — expand into more communities on the same infrastructure.
